Our crew covered the 25th anniversary FeatherFest Festival in the Galveston. FeatherFest perfectly illustrates Jim’s initiative to increase EcoTourism as a means to encourage a more broad-based interest in the local habitat and it's protection.
We covered four of the dozens of events and classes offered over the long weekend: Shorebird Photography at East Beach, Birds in Flight from a Boat (North Deer Island), Ground Level Bird Photography at Bolivar Flats, and Birding the Port Arthur Area with Glenn Olsen. Birds were bountiful and spring-energized, and everywhere we went participants were excited about our project—the name Blackburn being a symbol of courage in the good fight for the health of the Texas Coast and it’s inhabitants.
Coming up next is coverage of Jim’s speaking and book signing event at the Rothko Chapel's Welcome Center on Saturday, April 30th.
